I trained as a humanistic counsellor based on the model of Transactional Analysis. With time and further professional exploration I now incorporate other ways of working into the therapy I give, which I feel enrich the experience for both parties.
For example, Mindfulness is something I believe fits well into the therapeutic process. There is a page on my website that introduces you to it's concepts if you are unfamiliar with it.
The trust and connection between two people working together is more important than the theoretical model used. The quality of the relationship is key to the effectiveness of therapy.
I have an interest in creativity and find that working with metaphor and visualisation can be a powerful tool to open doors to our feelings and help us understand ourselves better. This is not something that is suited to everyone, but it can be a valuable aid to the process of getting to know ourselves at a deeper level.
